Love, Life, or Tragedy

LOVE
She does not wish to be worshipped:
only adored for the queen she can be
in a one man society; forming an allegiance
so rare in piety that her king pledges
the ultimate fidelity - no adultery.

LIFE
She does not wish to live forever:
only to endure the history of another
in a pilgrimage they’ve chosen to course
together; her expectancy is not in her being,
but in her appreciation for his time.

TRAGEDY
She does not wish to reverse struggle:
only to survive long enough to imply
that she has loved passionately, lived periodically,
and tolerated calamity.

Love, Life, or Tragedy?
